The discussion places Bohm’s lecture notes in a wider historical, scientific, and philosophical context and traces his intellectual development from the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics to an alternative interpretation based on the notion of "hidden variables."

The work takes an original approach to natural philosophy, based on Hegel's philosophy.
