Main Focus

As the founder of Conservation Science Laboratory at Xiamen University, Prof. Zhanyun Zhus research mainly focuses on scientific analysis and conservation of paper, polychrome, textile artifacts, and scientific analysis of archaeological residues.

Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Zhanyun Zhu is a Professorial Research Fellow, Associate Professor, Doctoral Supervisor at Xiamen University, as well as Visiting Scholar at The University of Melbourne, and The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History. He has a major research interest in conservation science, has been selected as Nanqiang Outstanding Young Talent at Xiamen University, High-level Talent Introduced in Fujian Province by Fujian Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has published nearly 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in A&HCI/SCI etc., compiled 1 national standard for conservation profession. Prof. Zhu has been principal investigator of 7 international, national, ministerial, or provincial competitive projects, received 2 academic awards above municipal level. He has established 3 undergraduate courses and 3 postgraduate courses, been principal investigator of 2 educational research projects at university level. He has been supervising 2 PhD students, 8 master students, and 6 undergraduate innovative projects. Prof. Zhu has been Editorial Board Member of Studies in Conservation (A&HCI, SCI), Heritage Science (A&HCI, SCI), Mediterranean Archaeology and Archaeometry (A&HCI), and Scientific Culture (AATA), Member of Specialised Committee for Conservation Education - Chinese Institute for Conservation of Cultural Heritage, and Reviewer for many high-level international journals. He has attended and made oral presentations in above 10 international conferences held in the US, Japan, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Korea, and HK SAR etc.
