The lab is equipped with various microscopes for analyzing and documenting samples, such as archaeobotanical remains, like seeds, wood, pollen, and phytoliths. It´s also set up to measure bones, artifacts, and stone tools under the microscope and produce high-magnification images.
Key equipment for microscopic analysis includes:
- Leica stereo microscopes, 2x with a camera, with a magnification of up to 160x
- high-power Olympus microscopes fitted with digital cameras for direct imaging and measurements
- Keyence VHX-6000 is a fully digital microscope with a continual magnification range from 10x to 2000x, automatic depth composition, and stitching.
- JEOL InTouch Scope JSM-IT100LA compact SEM (scanning electron microscope) for ultra-high magnification imaging and measurements
