About Us

Concept

IMPRS is the abbreviation for International Max Planck Research school. The aim of the joint IMPRS doctoral program of the Max Planck Society and the German Rectors’ Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz ) is to support particularly qualified young scientists from all over the world by allowing them to conduct doctoral research under excellent conditions. The IMPRS for Modeling the Anthropocene (IMPRS ModA) aims at forming the first generation of geoanthropology researchers by providing a transdisciplinary education covering key aspects of the Anthropocene challenge.

Organizational Structure

The International Max Planck Research School for Modeling the Anthropocene (IMPRS ModA) is for a period of 6 years (01.07.2024-30.06.2026). The organization of IMPRS ModA considers the IMPRS guidelines and the rules of Max Planck Society and the partners.

Governance

The Principal Teaching Faculty (PTF) is the board with authority for all decisions regarding the management and organization of the school.

The Principal Teaching Faculty consists of a representative of each participating department or university/institutional faculty with official supervision rights, a representative for each cohort of doctoral researchers and a representative of the Junior Faculty (see below). Every representative has a deputy.

Two speakers represent the IMPRS: Prof. Dr. Ricarda Winkelmann (Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology) & TBA.
